Design Philosophy
Great design can be achieved through development of clear vision and project problem statements, and a
concise space program. Once this is achieved, an appropriate design solution can be expressed.
The function of the building is expressed through a harmonic balance of forms, materials, fenestrations, and
details. Design elements that impact the form of the building are site access, building orientation, prevailing
winds, solar exposure, views, etc. Great design strives to achieve a balance of all of these elements with the
program elements to provide an aesthetic and functional facility.
Given the nature of today's environmental issues, along with the many technological choices in building materials
and construction costs, David will design your building to be responsive to your needs and the environment. If
desired, he will work to achieve a LEED certification for your project based on your wishes and at a level that
makes the most sense for your project.
Here at David J. Eckes, Architect, Ltd. your project is as important to us as it is to you. David will devote
personal attention to every phase of your project. He enjoys working as a part of a team to solve the design
problems and to develop buildings that respond to the client's needs, budget, and environment.
